Pink Paradise and Rainbow Crystals by Urban Fire
This marks my 4th shoot with Urban Fire, a photographer who’s work I really adore and I always enjoy shooting with him immensely. We always have a laugh. What I love most about working with him is the fact he can get excited about the projects I suggest and he is always game to give them a try. It’s nice to know someone has that level of confidence in you and your whacky ideas.
Initially this shoot started with my desire to shoot in the blossom ( a somewhat fleeting opportunity I chase every spring ) however I am currently sporting the growing out fringe look, and it’s not a good look! So I thought it was high time I broke out a couple of my wigs.
So one evening I drop Urban Fire an email and ask him what is he doing Sunday. He came back with an immediate reply saying he was free and loved last minute shoots.
I was thrilled as I had found the most amazing location that boasts over a dozen variety of blossom trees and it’s on my door step. I laid out half a dozen outfits and looks and said take your pick.
We settled on 3 looks and this is the first set we shot.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the location was filled with families sunbathing, picnicking and even playing football but we managed to find a quite corner with a beautiful tree with long hanging branches and covered in blossom, it was perfect.
Now let me tell you, it can be tough doing your make up and changing on location. Trying to keep your clothes in the bags or suitcases while changing and doing your make up in a small hand mirror. I don’t mind admitting this is an area I always struggle with abit and I need to improve here. You will notice in some shots the odd strand of my hair poking through the wig, oops – so cross with myself
I used mostly MAC and Sugar Pill for my eye make up but I always use max factor foundation and mascara. I chose to use soft pinks and some purple which I blended into the pink and added a gorgeous purple glitter eyeliner by MAC
The outfit was sort of thrown together, a white skirt by the Dark Angel and a soft pink sweater as I couldn’t find a top that went with the skirt lol.
Oh, plus the beautiful parasol that was my mums ❤
I think the wig really suited me, and I loved it’s ringlets, this was topped off with my rainbow crystal fairy crown and crystal necklace. The little crystals shine an array of beautiful colours when the light hits it so if you look really close, you might see some sparkles here and there 😉
I think the outfit and the blossom really complimented each other and I loved the post work that Urban Fire added to the photos to give them that hint of Emily Soto style of photography ( Emily Soto is my favourite on location photographer so I am pretty obsessed with her )
I really hope you like these photos, their very different to anything else I’ve done before and I always feel it’s important to push yourself creatively and try new things.
