Flower Power at the Rambling Man Festival
Rock N’ Roll at Sunset – A Gypsy Boho Fashion shoot taken during the Rambling Man festival…
Photos by Nigel Keene
It’s no secret that I am a lover of music, my love for rock music since first hearing Led Zeppelin ‘Black Dog’ has defined me as a person, and also as a model.
The 1970’s represent a time of great freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of expression and artistic experimentation, my only regret is that I couldn’t be there.
So when Nigel got in touch and asked if I wanted to do a shoot at The Rambling Man festival I instantly thought ‘Flower Power’
I chose some 70’s style clothes to take and wear and then picked and pressed some flowers I thought would look good for the make up, if that didn’t work I could paint them on. I was very pleased with the makeup.
The first day there we caught a few live bands, checked out the festival and then went in search of some locations…
The first set were mostly taken shooting directly into the sun during sunset using a portable light to fill.
We wanted to shoot some natural environment shots during sunset, which Nigel enhanced using a portable light, being an avid fan of natural light there was some digs on my part as I predominately shoot natural light. I have noticed a few of my photographers friends prefer the enhancement of a little flash light too.
After the sun set behind the trees we moved on and found a field basking in the gorgeous setting sun so we quickly grabbed a few shots, this time all natural…
The second day we decided that staying within the festival ground was bit limiting so drove out and found some lovely gardens to shoot in.
I do believe Nigel uses exclusively profoto kit. shooting a combination of shaded mid afternoon light and also sunset, sometimes shooting directly into the light to get some nice sun flare.
I am really delighted with these photos so I am very proud to show off our work.
P.S. The Cult were amazing!!!
